Cowboys Dominate Middle Distance Events at Wildcat Invitational

Woolhouse broke his own meet record in the mile, running 4:08.01, and finished a full six seconds ahead of teammate Scott Rantall. Steve Greenwell and Robert Elmore also finished fourth and fifth, respectively, nearly giving the Pokes a top five sweep in the event.
The Cowboys were also very strong the 1,000m run, claiming five of the top seven places. Redshirt freshman Ryan Ripley led the charge, finishing in 2:32.69. Sophomore Sean McCabe grabbed third in 2:33.72, followed closely by David Pomies in fourth and Brian Ehlis in fifth. David Jankowski closed it out for the Cowboys in seventh.
Freshman James Wanjiku added to the strong middle distance performances by taking third in the 800m, stopping the clock in 1:55.90.
The Pokes also had several strong performances in shorter distances, led by sophomore Daniel McLemore's second-place finish in the 60m dash. The Duncanville, Texas, native finished the race in 6.74 seconds, one hundredth of a second from victory.
Vernon Grant was the sole Cowboy to compete in two events, collecting a top 10 finish in each. He took 10th in the 60m dash in 6.96 seconds, and ninth in the 200m dash in 22.77 seconds.
Oklahoma State will return to action Friday, Jan. 23 when it travels to Fayetteville, Ark. for the Razorback Invitational.
