Cowboy Track Opens Season at KSU Invitational

Oklahoma State's men's track team opened its season Saturday with a total of nine individuals claiming top five finishes at the Kansas State Invitational.
The Pokes dominated the mile run with senior Jason Woolhouse winning in 4:14.88 and junior Scott Rantall a mere two seconds behind in second place. Newcomer David Pomies also finished fifth with a time of
Freshman Chris Stoves began his career by winning the 600-yard run in 1:14.35.
In the 200m dash, sophomore Kent Mennem, a transfer from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, sprinted to a third-place finish in 23.37. Freshman James Wanjiku also grabbed a third-place finish in the 800m run.
The Cowboys placed four runners in the top seven in the 1,000m run. Redshirt freshman Ryan Ripley led the charge in second, finishing in 2:36.43. Brian Ehlis took third, Tyler Campbell finished fifth, and true freshman David Jankowski crossed the line in seventh just four seconds off Ripley's pace.
In the field events, Matt Sharp won the long jump with a leap of just over 22 feet.
