Men's Cross Country Opens Season at Wichita Gold Classic

Oklahoma State's men's cross country team opened its 2003 season with a third-place finish Saturday morning in the 55th annual JK Gold Classic at the RAFT Golf Course in Wichita, Kan.

The Pokes were led by two top 10 finishers in the four mile race. Sophomore Marcus Hershberger finished eighth with a time of 21:46, and freshman James Wanjiku followed in ninth just one second behind.

Redshirt freshmen Tyler Campbell, Ryan Ripley, and Charlie Bromley finished 15th, 22nd, and 31st, respectively, rounding out the field for the Cowboys.

Oklahoma State will be in action again on Sept. 20 as they travel to Joplin, Mo. for the Missouri Southern Stampede.
