Softball Wins Oklahoma Shootout

Oklahoma State's softball team had a pair of big wins on Sunday defeating Connors State, 11-0, and UCO, 9-1, to win the Oklahoma Shootout.
OSU pushed two runs home in the top of the first on a pair of RBI singles from Megan Carey and Jennie Killman.
The Cowgirls used five hits in the third to increase their lead to 5-0. Shanel Scott, Ashleigh Tweed, Carey and Killman each picked up an RBI in the frame.
The Cowgirls closed out the contest with a six-run fifth inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Killman and a two-run long ball from Stephanie Nicholson.
Randi Cook picked up the win against Connors, scattering two hits and striking out three.
The Cowgirls scored two in the first when Carey and Nicholson both had RBI doubles.
The second was another big offensive inning as five runs crossed home plate. Calli Behmer started the rally by reaching on an error by the shortstop and rounded the bases on a double from Lacy Darity. Two hits and a walk later, Carey cleared the bases with a double and scored on a single from Killman to end the inning.
The Cowgirls scored a run in the third and fourth to round out the scoring.
Jessica Hoppock earned the win in the second contest, fanning nine batters and giving up four hits.
Megan Carey led the Cowgirls offensively, going 6-for-7 on the day with six RBIs.
'I am extremely proud of our performance this fall and the improvement we have made,' stated head coach Margaret Rebenar. 'We had several kids, both returners and newcomers, that stepped up and did a great job.'
