Softball Wins Two At Oklahoma Shootout

In the first contest of the day the Cowgirls did not take the lead until the fourth inning. Eastern jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Cowgirls then scored two in the third and Eastern evened it in the bottom of the frame.
OSU used four hits in the third to push two runs home. Shanel Scott led off the inning with a double and scored on a single from Megan Carey. Carey moved into scoring position on a base hit from Alliya Anderson and scored courtesy of Stephanie Nicholson.
OSU took the lead for good in the fourth. Lacy Darity connected for a double to right center to score Heather Been and Scott after both reached on singles. Nicholson scored the final run of the frame on an overthrow to second base.
Jessica Hoppock earned the win on the mound, striking out three and giving up four hits.
The Cowgirls posted a shutout in the second contest of the day against Northwestern behind a four run second inning.
Jennie Killman got things started with a single, moved into scoring position on a double from Crystal Lee and scored on Calli Behmer's sacrifice fly. Darity then tripled to bring Lee home and later scored on a ground out.
Killman added the final run of the day in the bottom of the fifth on a sole homer, her first of the fall season.
Kristen Neil tossed the shutout for the Cowgirls, striking out 11 and scattering two hits.
The Cowgirls conclude their fall season on Sunday, the final day of the Oklahoma Shootout. Oklahoma State will take on Connors State at 1:30 p.m. and UCO at 3:30 p.m. at Hall of Fame Stadium.
