Rashaun Woods Named Big 12 Player Of The Week
September 22, 2003 | Cowboy Football
Woods had a memorable performance in Oklahoma State's 52-6 win over SMU last Saturday. The Heisman Trophy candidate caught 13 passes for 232 yards and seven touchdowns. The seven touchdowns set a NCAA Division I-A record, and the 232 yards also established a single game OSU mark. Woods erased the 1969 NCAA record by San Diego State's Tim Delaney with six TD receptions against New Mexico State. The 232 yards eclipsed Woods' game record he set a year ago against Oklahoma when he had 226 yards on 12 receptions. He scored five of his touchdowns in the first half and the last two in the third quarter. His touchdown catches were from two, 10, 34, 32, 25, five, and 11 yards. His seven touchdowns also represent the most scored by an OSU player in a single game while topping the former record of five held by former Heisman winner Barry Sanders and Terry Miller. The TDs scored tied the NCAA DIA game record of seven by Mississippi's Arnold Boykin in 1949 and San Diego State's Marshall Faulk in 1991.
