Where Are They Now: Brian Montonati

1998-2000: A Muskegon, Mich. native, Montonati transferred to OSU from Fullerton College, where he led the team to an 11-game turnaround in 1997. He saw increased playing time over the second half of his sophomore season, beginning with the 1998 Baylor game, which he entered after Brett Robisch and Alex Webber fouled out. He scored six crucial points in the final 2:03 at home against Oklahoma in 1998. During his junior season, he was an important reserve on the Cowboys' front line and scored in double figures 11 times. He scored a career-high 16 points and had a career-high 11 rebounds against Texas A&M in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Montonati shot 80.5 percent from the foul line his junior season and was named the team's Most Improved Player. During his senior season, Montonati started all 34 games for the Cowboys. His 12.1 average points per game was second on the team behind Desmond Mason. He led the team in rebounds, averaging 7.2 per game.
Today: Montonati is in Stillwater this summer finishing up his degree in education. After spending two years in France and a year in Switzerland playing basketball, he has recently signed a three-year contract with Jesi, a basketball team on the east coast of Italy.
Montonati will marry Amanda Loehr in Tulsa, Okla. on August 9, 2003, and the couple will live in Jesi, Italy.
