Shannon Sullivan Named Assistant Softball Coach
July 30, 2003 | Cowgirl Softball
Shannon is a great addition to our program, said Rebenar. As a former player she understands our system and it will be a smooth transition. Plus, she has a lot of ideas of her own after serving as a head coach. The experience she gained can only enhance our program.
Sullivan began her coaching career at Oklahoma State, serving as a student assistant coach for two years and manager for one season.
She moved into the role of head coach at Jarrell High School in Jarrell, Texas, leading a young team to the regional quarterfinals in her first season at the helm. Sullivan also coordinated the strength and conditioning program for all female athletes at Jarrell.
I am thrilled to be back at Oklahoma State and have the opportunity to work with a great coaching staff, said Sullivan. My goal as a player was to get to the World Series. It will be no different as a coach and I look forward to the challenge.
At Oklahoma State, Sullivan will be primarily responsible for infield instruction and fundamentals. She will also be involved in hitting technique and instruction, as well as recruiting.
A native of Los Gatos, Calif., Sullivan was a member of the 1998 Cowgirl softball team that qualified for the Womens College World Series. She earned her bachelors degree in physical education from Oklahoma State in 2001.
