Cowboys Announce 1997-98 Men's Basketball Schedule

STILLWATER, Okla.--Eight home games against teams that reached postseason play last year, including a March 1 ABC-TV matchup with Kansas, highlight the 1997-98 Oklahoma State men's basketball schedule.
The Cowboys' regular season begins Nov. 15, the earliest recorded start date in school history, when OSU plays host to Texas-Pan American in a 7:05 p.m. tipoff. After November home contests against Creighton, Southern Utah and North Texas, the Cowboys play host to 1997 NIT participants Oral Roberts and Washington and then, following an Oklahoma City game with Arizona State, NCAA entrant Jackson State.
OSU will have a chance at home-court or at least home-state revenge against three non-conference foes (Arizona State, Arkansas State and Oral Roberts) that defeated the Cowboys in road games last year and will face former Oklahoma coach Billy Tubbs' TCU squad, also an NIT team last season, in the Cowboys' first road game Dec. 30.
The Big 12 schedule includes four nationally televised games, two of which will be played at home, and five games in the Big 12 Television Package. In addition to the Kansas game, the Cowboys will face Texas Tech (ESPN, Jan. 10) at home and Oklahoma (ESPN, Jan. 26) and Iowa State (ESPN2, Feb. 9) on the road in nationwide telecasts.
The Cowboys will also play two exhibition games, the first against the California All-Stars on Nov. 11 and the second against Buducnost, a team from the former Yugoslavia, on Nov. 17.
