Lauren Bay Earns Academic All-District Honors

Prior to the Big 12 Tournament Bay earned All-Big 12 first-team honors and was named the league’s most valuable player. She was also a first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection for the third straight year.
On the field, Bay has a 0.73 ERA and the second-best strikeout ratio in the nation at 12.8 per seven inning game. The Trail, B.C., Canada native has fanned 401 batters this season to up her career total to 1101, making her the first Cowgirl pitcher to strike out 1000 batters.
To be nominated for the team, individuals must have a 3.20 grade point average or higher and participate in at least 50 percent of the team's games in the nominee's position. As a member of the first-team, Bay moves to the national Verizon Academic All-America Team ballot.
