This past summer, Whitley was named as an assistant coach with the Womens Professional Softball League All-Stars, one of four coaches selected to coach in the league. During this time, Whitley coached Oklahoma State graduates Jamie Foutch and Michele Smith. Smith was a two-time All-American at Oklahoma State and an Olympic God Medalist. Foutch was a three-time All-American at Oklahoma State and is currently competing in the Olympic trials.
Whitley began his coaching career as a manager and assistant coach for the Tennessee Volunteers in 1997. In 1999, the Vols won the Eastern Division Championship within the highly-competitive Southeastern Conference, and earned their first ever NCAA Regional berth.
A native of Dunwoody, Ga., Whitley was a member of the East Tennessee State baseball team in 1993 and Sacramento City College in 1994. He played in the infield during college, primarily at the shortstop position. Whitley earned his bachelors degree in psychology from the University of Tennessee in 1999.
Whitley is currently pursuing his masters in Counseling Education at Oklahoma State. In his spare time, he enjoys playing the guitar and golfing.
