Cowgirl Softball Outlasts Boston, 1-0
May 16, 2003 | Cowgirl Softball
It had been five years since Oklahoma States softball team made an appearance in the NCAA Regionals and Thursdays game against Boston University in California could not have been scripted any better.
Bay struck out five-of-six batters faced in the first two innings but the third inning was a different story. The bases were loaded after a pair of walks and an error by the Cowgirls before Bay came through with her eighth strikeout of the game to escape the inning.
Both pitchers had no-hitters going until the bottom of the fourth when Ryan Realmuto connected for a double to left center but
The Cowgirls made a surge in the fifth with back-to-back singles from Alliya Anderson and Jade Lindly but left the inning with nothing to show on the scoreboard.
Bay saw her no-hitter fade away in the final frame, giving up a double to the center field wall. It was all the visitors would get as Bay retired the next two batters she faced to give the Cowgirls a shot in the bottom of the frame.
The Cowgirls wasted no time taking advantage of the opportunity, earning the win with a walk-off homer to right center from Crystal Lee. The long ball was Lees sixth of the year and her sixth game-winning hit.
