Cowboys To Compete In Bank Of Fayetteville Invitational

The University of Arkansas is hosting the meet at the John McDonnell Field on Saturday. It begins with the javelin at 8 a.m. Running events begin with the women's 1,500-meter run at 9:35 a.m. The meet will conclude with the men's 1,600m relay at 6:30 p.m.
Senior Chuck Sloan will lead the Cowboys at the meet. He will compete in the 3,000m steeplechase. Sloan has been named an All-American in that event each of the past two years but has not competed in that event so far this season.
Jerry Rainey, Ben Sigle and Trey Vernon also will compete in the steeplechase Saturday. The event is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
OSU will be strong in the 3,000m and 1,500m races as well. Six Cowboys are slated to run in the 3,000 and four in 1,500.
The Cowboys are coming off a good showing at the K.T. Woodman Classic in Wichita, Kan. Sloan won the 1,500m, while Junior Vasquez was first in both the 3,000m and the steeplechase.
