May 15, 2003 | Cowgirl Equestrian
Oklahoma State's equestrian team will send Kristen Dickerson to compete in the Collegiate National Reining Championships Friday at the Oklahoma State Fair grounds in Oklahoma City, Okla. "Overall, I am looking to place well," Dickerson said. "Throughout the year, I have placed well at the Varsity Nationals and nationals so I am hoping that will carry on through this week. I am really excited because the quality of horses is extremely high as well as the reiners." The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) hosts the best collegiate reiners in the country to see which rider will earn the coveted buckle. "She has been riding wreally well and peaking at the right time," Head Coach Larry Sanchez said. "The horses she will ride will hopefully show her true ability, and we are hoping for the best." The event is the second largest reining event next to the Futurity, which is a pro event. "This is more exciting for fans than other events because of the high-quality of horses and reiners," Dickerson said.
