Cowgirl Senior Finishes Fourth In Regional

After advancing to the fourth day of play at the Omni Hotels Women's Tennis Central Region Championships, Cowgirl senior Linda Faltynkova was defeated in semi-final action.

In the quarter-final round of main draw competition, Faltynkova battled Renate Stoop of Boise State, holding on to win, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

Faltynkova faced regional champion, Alicia Pillay of Tulsa, in the regional semi-finals. After claiming an early lead, Faltynkova was defeated 4-6, 6-0, 6-3.

Faltynkova exited the tournament as the number four seed, the highest placement of any competing Cowgirl. Kate Vasylyeva finished the tournament, after exiting in the round of 16, in a seven way tie for the ninth seed.

The Cowgirls must now prepare themselves for the finale of the fall tennis season to be held in Dallas in November.
