Men's Cross Country at Cowboy Jamboree

Senior Brian Young placed 13th in the race and was the first runner across the line for the Cowboys. Seniors Nathaniel Lane and Chuck Sloan weren't far behind Young, placing 15th and 16th, respectively.
"I have to consider the fact that Brian has been sick all week long," said Cross Country Coach Dick Weis. "He hasn't run since Monday. And, I didn't run two of my top runners today [Ren Carlsen and Simon Wilkinson] because they are injured."
The No. 2 ranked Arkansas took the first-place title at the Cowboy Jamboree. Dodge City Community College placed second.
"The competition was tough. You know, these kids who are coming from foreign countries go to community colleges, and they are great runners," Weis said.
The Cowboy Jamboree is believed to be the oldest consecutive collegiate cross country meet held. It is also believed to be the largest race ever held in the state of Oklahoma.
"After today, I'm sure this is the largest race in Oklahoma. There must be 8,000 people out here," Weis said.
