COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Oklahoma State's softball team dropped the second game of the series at Texas A&M on Sunday, falling to the Aggies, 3-0, after giving up three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Leadoff batter, Stephanie Nicholson, collected a base hit to start the contest, but it was the only hit that either pitcher surrendered until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Aggies touched Lauren Bay for two hits.
Rocky Spencer singled up the middle and Jana James dropped a blooper over the head of Nicholson, but Bay struck out the next two batters to escape the inning.
Bay fanned nine batters through four innings, but the Aggies were able to break through in the bottom of the fifth with three runs.
Bay walked the first two batters and followed with a pair of wild pitches that allowed Crystal Martin to score. Bay then fanned Cheryl Fowler to inch closer to ending the inning but walked Adrian Gregory to load the bases.
Spencer followed with a sacrifice fly to right field to score pinch runner Ashley Awalt and Selena Collins was intentionally walked to load the bases yet again.
Bay then walked her sixth batter of the inning to bring home Sherah Atkins. Bay fanned Jana James to end the inning but the Aggies emerged with a 3-0 lead.
A&M handed the Cowgirls and Bay their third consecutive loss despite the lefty striking out 11 Aggies and allowing just two hits. Bay surrendered three earned runs in five innings and walked six.
Oklahoma State falls to 27-9 overall and 6-3 in the Big 12 with the loss while A&M improves to 28-13 overall and 6-3 in the conference.
The Cowgirls return to action on Tuesday, traveling to Tulsa to face Arkansas and Tulsa.
