Cowboys Travel To Bloomington, Indiana
April 06, 2003 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
The Cowboys received an at-large bid to the 61st NCAA Championships after a third-place finish at the District V meet on Nov. 13.
"I'm really excited for the kids," OSU coach Dick Weis said. "They worked hard. With us being such a young team and all of the injuries we had, it's a special feat to get there. I'm proud. They've worked hard, and it's been a tough road."
The NCAA meet is hosted by Indiana University on the IU golf course.
Weis said the NCAA Championships will give the team a good run for future seasons. After the meet, OSU will lose senior Chuck Sloan, who has led the team in most of the races this season.
"Six of the seven return next year," Weis said. "We feel we're going to be back where we were in the past years. I'm excited for the kids because it's good for them to get exposure."
When the Cowboys finish their cross country season, they will switch modes for the track and field season. All members of the cross country team also compete on the track team for OSU.
