Cowboy Harriers Place Fourth at Big 12 Championship
April 06, 2003 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
Colorado repeated as champion, followed by Texas in second and Texas A&M in third. The Pokes finished only 15 seconds out of third as a team.
Individually, Jason Woolhouse continued his strong junior campaign with a third-place finish and a time of 23:56.06, good enough to be the third-fastest 8K time at an away meet in school history. Woolhouse was edged out by Jorge Torres and Edwardo Torres of Colorado.
Seniors Ben Lake and Ben Sigle had strong showings, finishing 15th and 22nd, respectively. Sophomore Scott Rantall and junior Chris McWatters rounded out the scoring for the Cowboys. The Pokes were without injured senior Derek Tate, who has two top 15 finishes this year, including a runner-up at the Spiked Shoe Invitational in September.
The Cowboys will be off until November 16 when they travel to Normal, Ill., for the District V Championships.
