Chuck Sloan Named Big 12 Runner Of Week
April 06, 2003 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
Sloan's award comes on the heels of a 14th-place finish at the Cowboy Jamboree last weekend to lead No. 24 OSU to a fourth-place finish. He crossed the line in 24:51. Sloan still produced his fastest time of the season for an 8-kilometer race so far despite being sick the past week.
The senior from Billings, Mont., started the season by winning the four-mile Wichita Gold Classic on Sept. 4. His 19:56 was good enough to crown him the meet champion for the second time in his career. He also won the title in 1996. The past six champions at the Classic have all been Cowboys.
At the Fordham Fiasco on Sept. 18, Sloan finished the 8k race with a time of 26:23, good enough for a fourth-place finish.
The Cowboys are gearing up to run at the Chile Pepper Invitational on Oct. 16 in Fayetteville, Ark.
