College Station, Texas - Oklahoma State's 17th-ranked softball team suffered its second conference loss on Saturday, falling to No. 19 Texas A&M, 7-5, at the Aggie Softball Complex.
With the loss, Oklahoma State falls to 27-8 overall and 6-2 in the Big 12 while Texas A&M improves to 27-13 overall and 5-3 in the conference.
A&M jumped on the Cowgirls early and kept at it, taking a four-run lead after two innings that the Cowgirls could not overcome.
The Aggies plated one run in the first when Adrian Gregory scored on a wild pitch.
The second inning meant more trouble for Oklahoma State as A&M pushed three runs home. Adrian Gregory, Cheryl Fowler and Lindsay Wilhelmson crossed the plate when A&M capitalized on three hits.
The Cowgirls finally had a break go their way in the top of the fourth, staging a rally with two outs. Afton Burris reached on a fielder's choice and moved to second when Stephanie Hodges singled to left field.
Crystal Lee then followed with her fourth home run of the year to clear the bases and cut the lead to one.
But Texas A&M kept firing, regaining a two-run cushion in the top of the fifth when Gregory blasted her third long ball of the year.
The Cowgirls had their chances to take the lead, leaving runners stranded on second and third in the sixth after relief pitcher Lindsey Rippee walked a pair of Cowgirls, but the Aggies came through with two outs to end the inning.
The Aggies scored two more in the bottom of the sixth. Gregory hit her second home run of the game and Kristin Gunter singled down the right field line to score Rocky Spencer.
The Cowgirls did not go away without a fight, cutting the lead to two in the final frame on a two-run dinger from Lauren Bay. It was Bay's fourth home run of the year but the Aggies once again came through with two outs to end the inning and take the win.
Bay was saddled with the loss, giving up four runs on three hits. The senior never seemed to find her rhythm, fanning just two batters before being relieved by Seagraves in the second.
Seagraves threw the final six innings, scattering eight hits and surrendering three runs.
The Cowgirls wrap up the series with the Aggies on Sunday at 1 p.m. in College Station, Texas.
