Cowgirls In First After Day 1

"I am looking forward to tomorrow's competition," head coach Larry Sanchez said. "Hopefully we can move into first place after tomorrow."
Sophomore Crissy Meeks took first place in the open horsemanship, while freshman Lindsay Childress captured a first place title in her division, too.
In the open showmanship class, sophomore Ryan Read placed first and sophomore Kayla Elmenhorst finished second.
Sophomore Maggie Engles and freshman April Peck each placed first in their division, while sophomore Leigh Taylor and senior Cassi Cavanaugh finished second.
OSU leads after the first day with 23 points, with Texas A&M close behind with 17. Kansas State is in third with 16, while West Texas A&M rounds out the top four with 12 points.
With the 23 team points, OSU moves into second place for the year with 55 team points. Texas A&M is in first with 56.
OSU will look to continue its first place showing on Sunday.
