Cowgirl Equestrian in First With One Show Remaining

The Cowgirls entered the weekend with a one point advantage over Texas A&M and Kansas State. With its 38-point first-place finish on Friday, the Cowgirls jumped to a seven point advantage over Kansas State, 181-174.
Freshman Laura Brawdy captured the first win for OSU in Walk Trot, while sophomore Lindsay Pounds took first in Open Flat.
Senior Amy Gattis finished first in Novice Flat to record the third first-place finish for OSU. Junior Katie Thomas captured the fourth first-place victory for the Cowgirls by winning the Novice Flat, while sophomore Chandy Hale finished Friday's show by winning the Advanced Walk Trot Canter to notch to win for the Pokes.
Senior Kelli Combs and freshman Amber Blythe were the only two Cowgirls to record second-place finishes in Novice Fences and Advanced Walk Trot Canter, respectively.
The Cowgirls stayed atop the standings after finishing third on Saturday with 30 points. Thomas captured her second victory of the weekend in Novice Flat, while junior Sheila Dohman took first in Intermediate Fences.
Sophomore Emily Harrison and sophomore Corrie Janssen captured second place showings in Intermediate Fences and Open Fences, respectively.
Junior Emily Hoaglan captured first in Walk Trot, while sophomore Lindsay Smith finished first in Novice Fences.
The Cowgirls remain atop the team standings heading into the final show of the year with 214 points, while Kansas State is in second with 207 points.
Texas A&M and West Texas A&M round out the top four with 201 and 134 points, respectively.
OSU will conclude the weekend tomorrow at the N.W. Dick Freeman Arena.
