Texas Sweeps Cowgirl Softball

Texas took a quick 1-0 lead when Lindsay Gardner connected for a leadoff home run, knocking the first pitch to left center. After a double later in the inning, Sarah Seagraves settled in and shut down the Longhorns until the fifth inning.
The Cowgirls evened the score in the bottom of the third with a long ball of their own. Megan Carey connected for her sixth homer of the year, a line drive to the left field bleachers.
It would not be enough as Texas opened the floodgates in the fifth, scoring six runs off five hits and two OSU errors.
Oklahoma State chipped at the lead in the bottom of the frame, using three hits to push two runs home.
Lacy Darity led off with a single, moved to second on a base hit from Stephanie Nicholson and third on a sacrifice from Calli Behmer.
Nicholson then stole second and Darity reached home safely on the throw. Ryan Realmuto plated the Cowgirls final run of the day, sending Nicholson home with a single to left field.
Texas added two more runs in the seventh inning, using a two-run long ball to capitalize on a pair of errors by the Cowgirls for the final score.
Oklahoma State returns to action later this week at the Big 12 Tournament in Oklahoma City May 1-4.
