Lauren Bay Tabbed Big 12 Pitcher Of The Week

Oklahoma State senior Lauren Bay was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. It marks the fourth time this year that Bay has earned the honor.

Bay went 2-0 last week, posting a pair of one-run wins, 2-1 and 3-2, over fifth-ranked Nebraska in Lincoln. The Trail, B.C., Canada, native went the distance in both games, including a 12 inning battle on Sunday.

In both contests Bay posted double-digit strikeouts–the 22nd time to accomplish the feat this year. In the 2-1 win on Saturday the lefty fanned 16 to mark the 10th time she has struck out 15 or more this season.

Earlier this year Bay became the first pitcher at OSU to reach the 1000 strikeout mark. She has 1054 to her credit with three regular season games remaining.

Oklahoma State (34-9, 12-3) hosts Oklahoma at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the first of three home games to close out the season.
