Softball Hosts New Mexico State

Oklahoma State will try to continue its winning ways on Friday when it hosts New Mexico State for a doubleheader slated to begin at 3 p.m. The is the first meeting between the two squads since 2001 and New Mexico State has never made the trip to Stillwater.
The Cowgirls are riding a six-game winning streak after defeating Wichita State, 2-0, on Wednesday. In their final tournament of the season last week, the Cowgirls won their last five games to clench the title at the Speedline Invitational.
New Mexico State is coming off a 6-4 win over Utah State, its first win in nearly a month (Feb. 16-March 9).
HEAD COACH MARGARET REBENAR
Margaret Rebenar is in her 24th season season as a softball coach at Oklahoma State and second as a head coach. She brings a 47-29 record as a head coach into Saturday's game. She was inducted into the NFCA/Easton "300 win" club in 2000 and guided the Cowgirls to a regional championship and a College World Series appearance in 1998. Under her guidance, 22 players have earned All-American status 28 times, including Olympians Michele Smith and Melanie Roche.
ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH KIM WARD
In her second year as the top assistant coach for Oklahoma State is Kim Ward. Prior to her appointment, she served as assistant coach for six years. Ward also played at OSU and is a two-time All-American pitcher.
SCOUTING REPORT ON NEW MEXICO STATE
Christi Stephens leads New Mexico State, batting .337 with three doubles and two home runs. Stephens is one of two Aggies to start all 29 contests, the other being Veronica Owens. Owens is one to keep a close eye on, as she is 9-for-10 on stolen bases. Nicky Bernal is second on the squad with a .271 batting average and a pair of doubles. Breanne Bohls is the only Aggie to draw double-digit walks, taking a base 12 times. On the mound the Aggies primarily rely on Jennie Bride (3-14) who holds a 4.52 ERA in 133.1 innings. Bride has been the pitcher of record in over half of the games this season and has earned all three wins. Backing her up are Amanda Carver and Anita Knight. Both Carver and Knight have thrown 29 innings and given up more than 30 runs each.
