Cowgirls Roll Past Cowley, 10-0
April 19, 2003 | Cowgirl Softball
Stephanie Nicholson got things started with a bang, leading off with a double and stealing second. Nicholson then scored what would ultimately be the only run OSU would need on a sacrifice hit from Lauren Bay.
The second inning brought in two more runs for the Cowgirls as Alliya Anderson and Erika Ennis rounded the bases thanks to four hits and an error by the Lady Tigers. Siebel then added offense to her game in the fifth with a two-run dinger to bring in Bay and bump the lead to 5-0.
The onslaught continued in the sixth as the Cowgirls pushed five runs across the plate to force the run-rule.
Ennis led off with a walk and proceeded to steal second and third to get into scoring position. Ashleigh Tweed then sent Ennis home with a base hit and stole second to move herself into contention. The offense continued to roll as Bay doubled to score Tweed and Siebel collected her third hit of the day to advance Bay to third.
Oklahoma State looked in danger of ending the inning with two runners stranded, but Anderson came up big with the three-run long ball to give Oklahoma State the needed run and the win, 10-0.
The teams attempted to play the second game of the doubleheader but it was called four batters in due to rain.
Oklahoma State takes the field again tomorrow, hosting NEO for a doubleheader set to begin at 3 p.m.
