Cowgirls Host The Jayhawks
April 19, 2003 | Cowgirl Softball
Oklahoma State opens conference play on Sunday, hosting Kansas for a doubleheader slated to begin at 2 p.m. The Cowgirls and Jayhawks were originally scheduled to play one game on Sunday and one on Monday, but forecasted severe weather prompted the change.
The Cowgirls are riding a eight-game winning streak, including three consecutive shutouts at Cowgirl Stadium. Kansas has won five straight after blowing past New Mexico State, 11-0 and 6-0, on Saturday.
OSU enters Big 12 action with its best record since 1998, the last time the Cowgirls qualified for the World Series. The 1998 squad was 25-7 when league play began and finished the year at 42-19, taking fourth at the WCWS.
SERIES WITH KANSAS
Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Kansas, 53-36, including a 10-5 mark in Stillwater. Last year, the Cowgirls and Jayhawks split in Lawrence with KU taking the first game 4-0 and the Cowgirls bouncing back for a 4-1 win in the second.
SCOUTING REPORT ON KANSAS
