Cowgirl Softball Prepares For Final Tournament
April 19, 2003 | Cowgirl Softball
OSU will take on UMKC at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Cowgirl Stadium after having over a week off due to winter weather conditions that forced a game against Wichita State to be rescheduled.
The season picks up speed with the trip to Florida as the Cowgirls begin playing at least two contests a week, including opening Big 12 play on March 17 against Kansas.
In Tampa the Cowgirls will face UT-Chattanooga and Michigan State on Thursday, Maryland and Florida Atlantic on Friday, and Illinois on Saturday in pool play. The single-elimination tournament begins Saturday evening and continues through Sunday with the championship game to be played at noon (CST).
OSU (9-3) holds a six-game winning streak after an impressive 5-0 performance in Arizona to capture the title at the Worth Wildcat Invitational. The Cowgirls blanked No. 2 Arizona, 1-0, and won by at least eight runs in three-of-five contests.
