Cowgirl Softball Blanks Wichita State
April 19, 2003 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's softball team played the first of five home games on Wednesday, defeating Wichita State, 2-0, and improving to 4-0 at Cowgirl Stadium.
Both teams got off to a slow start offensively but the Cowgirls were able to break the standstill in the bottom of the fourth on a pair of hits.
Lauren Bay led off the inning with a base hit and was replaced by Erika Ennis at first. Stephanie Hodges moved Ennis to second on a sacrifice bunt and Crystal Lee brought her in for the winning run.
Oklahoma State added a little breathing room in the sixth, and again the rally was started by Bay. The senior led off with a double and then scored on a double from Jade Lindly.
The Cowgirls held the Shockers to just two hits on the night and never allowed a runner to advance past first base.
Sarah Seagraves picked up the win and improved her record to a perfect 7-0 in four innings of work. Bay came on in relief in the fifth, striking out 9-of-10 batters faced.
Oklahoma State (18-6) returns to action on Friday, hosting New Mexico State for a doubleheader slated to begin at 3 p.m.
