Cowgirl Equestrian Wins Regional Championship

The Cowgirls finished runner-up to Texas A&M at Saturday's show. Texas A&M finished with 39 points while Oklahoma State finished with 30. Senior Audrey Buck earned Reserve High Point Rider honors.
A trio of Cowgirls won their classes on Saturday. Senior Audrey Buck won in Open Flat and qualified for regionals. The team captain also qualified for regionals in Open Fences. Sophomore Cheryl Adamson won her class in Walk-Trot-Canter. The first place finish also qualified her for post season regional action. Senior Sara McVay took home first place in Intermediate Flat.
At Sunday's show the Cowgirls once again found themselves runner-up to Texas A&M. The Cowgirls scored enough however to give the team the regional championship and qualify them for nationals.
Overall six Cowgirls won their classes on Sunday. Freshman Mary Beth Ede won her class of Novice Fences. Junior Lindsey Smith placed first in Intermediate Flat. Junior Lindsay Parker placed first in Open Flat. Parker also qualified for regionals in the event.
Senior Emily Hoaglan won her class of Novice Flat. Sophomore Amber Blythe also took home the top place in her section of Novice Flat. Sophomore April Peck ended the day with a win in Walk-Trot-Canter. Senior Sheila Dohmann qualified for regionals in Intermediate Fences.
The Equestrian team will next be in action on March 1-2 when the Western team travels to Texas A&M for a regional competition.
