April 18, 2003 | Cowgirl Equestrian
The Western team is currently in third place in the region. The Cowgirls trail leader West Texas A&M by just six points. Texas A&M is currently in second place and are one point ahead of Oklahoma State.
"With the top-three teams being within six points of each other it makes for an interesting final weekend," said Head Coach Larry Sanchez. "I am glad we are gunning for first rather than being in first. It gets the girls motivated to have a good set of shows."
The team will also look to qualify more riders for regionals. Currently five Western riders have qualified for regional action with more expected to qualify this weekend. Natalie Hoefler, Mandy McNally, April Peck, Emily Hoaglan and Luann Ulrich have all qualified for regionals.
Last time out the Western team hosted two shows and finished the weekend with a second and third-place finish.
