Equestrian Advances 14 to Zone Championships

To advance to zones a rider must finish in the top three in their class. Oklahoma State advanced 14 riders out of a possible 22 that had qualified for regionals. Zones will be held at New Mexico State University on April 5.
Senior Katie Thomas won the regional title in Novice Flat. Junior Lindsey Smith took home first place in Novice Fences. Sophomores April Peck and Laura Brawdy placed first in Beginner Horsemanship and Walk-Trot-Canter, respectively. Brawdy also qualified for zones in Beginner Horsemanship with a third place finish.
A trio of Cowgirls qualified for zones from the Western team. Senior Luann Ulrich and sophomore Mandy McNally both qualified in Intermediate Horsemanship with a second and third place finish, respectively.
Several riders advanced to zones from the English team. Seniors Emily Hoaglan and Sarah Potter qualified for zones in Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter and Novice Flat, respectively. Potter was runner-up in her class while Hoaglan finished third in hers.
Seniors Audrey Buck and Sheila Dohmann both placed third in Open Fences and Intermediate Fences, respectively. Senior Kelli Combs finished second in Novice Fences. Junior Kristin Dickerson was runner-up in Intermediate Flat and sophomore Cheryl Adamson placed second in Walk-Trot.
Oklahoma State Equestrian will next be in action at the Tournament of Champions this weekend at West Texas A&M University.
