Nine Cowboy Wrestlers Receive Academic All-Big 12 Honors

First team honorees include Michael Christian, James Huml, Brett Munson, Pat Popolizio, Chad Reid, Shane Roller and Clark Shouse. Sophomore Johnny Thompson and senior Ty Wilcox each captured second team Academic All-Big 12.
Huml is a physical education major from Rexburg, Idaho. Huml garnered a 24-12 record this season and finished his OSU career with a 43-24 mark, while Popolizio finished his career as a Cowboy with a 90-38 record and posted 29 wins against eight losses this year. The Niskayuna, N.Y., native will graduate with a masters in graduate studies.
Wilcox ended his career with a 24-9 record this year. The Fountain Valley, Calif., native is an international business major and finished his career as a Cowboy with a 96-33 record.
Roller earned his second All-America honors on the mat after finishing fourth at the NCAA Championships this year. The Bixby, Okla., native is majoring in psychology and recorded a 32-7 mark this year.
Thompson is a secondary education major from Oklahoma City, Okla. He finished the year with a 37-2 record and was the 122nd individual National Champion for the Cowboy wrestling program.
Christian, an undeclared freshman from Lynnwood, Wash., wrestled in five matches for the Cowboys, recording a 2-3 mark, while Munson (Arkansas City, Kan.) is also undeclared on a major and recorded a 9-5 record wrestling in open tournaments.
Reid, a junior from Sallisaw, Okla., is majoring in biology and finished the season with a 20-6 record and went 2-2 in dual action.
Shouse, an undeclared freshman from Morrison, Okla., wrestled in open tournaments this year recording a 10-5 mark.
First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.2 or better grade-point average, while the second team are those who have a 3.0 to 3.19 GPA.
