WACO, Texas - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team closed out its regular season with an 89-46 loss to Baylor inside the Ferrell Center on Wednesday night.
The Cowgirls (7-20 overall and 3-13 Big 12) trailed by as many as 10 in the first half before back-to-back three-pointers by Chantoya Hawkins and Lori Allen drew OSU within four at 24-20. However, the Lady Bears (19-9, 8-8) answered with a trey from Stasha Richards and extended the margin to 42-27 at the intermission.
Hawkins paced OSU with nine points and four rebounds in the first half, while Trisha Skibbe had six points before being saddled with foul trouble.
BU shot 49 percent in the half, including a 4-of-8 effort beyond the three-point line, and took advantage of 15 points off turnovers to hold a 42-27 lead at the half.
The Lady Bears continued their hot shooting in the second half, matching their 49-percent clip from the first half, while holding the Cowgirls to just four field goals over the final 20 minutes and outscoring them by a 47-19 count. BU finished the contest with a 46-16 advantage scoring in the paint and converted 38 points off of OSU's 27 turnovers in the contest.
Hawkins finished as the Cowgirls' top scorer with 11 points, while freshman Cara Painter was productive off the bench, finishing with 10 points and nine rebounds, both career highs.
