STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State picked up its fifth conference win in grand style on Saturday before 604 fans at Cowgirl Stadium. The Cowgirls defeated Texas Tech 1-0 on a solo home run from Lauren Bay in the bottom of the seventh.
Bay had a no-hitter going until the top of the fifth when she walked two batters and gave up a hit to load the bases. The lefty then promptly worked out of the jam, striking out the next two Red Raider batters to escape the inning untouched.
Things remained quiet at the plate for both teams until the bottom of the seventh when Bay stepped up to the plate.
With one out, the Trail, B.C., Canada, native nailed the first pitch for a home run to left field, her third of the year. It also marked the second consecutive game that Bay has scored the game-winning run.
Aside from earning the deciding hit, Bay fanned 17 Texas Tech batters to tie the single-game strikeout record at Oklahoma State and improve to 15-3. It was the third time this season she has accomplished the feat.
Megan Carey recorded the Cowgirls only other hit in the contest, a single to left field in the fourth.
Oklahoma State (26-6, 5-0) returns to action on Sunday, closing out the series with Texas Tech at 1 p.m.
