Cowgirl Softball Wins Two

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's softball team picked up a pair of wins here Friday in exhibition action, defeating Northeastern Oklahoma, 8-2, and 2-0.
After two quick outs to start the second inning the Cowgirls rallied for three hits, highlighted by a triple from Afton Burris that scored Stephanie Hodges and Megan Carey.
OSU then added another run in the fourth before an offensive explosion in the fifth.
Lacy Darity led the charge with a triple to the right field wall and did not have to wait long to come home as Lauren Bay followed with a two-run dinger. Calli Behmer then capped off the inning with a solo shot to give OSU a 6-0 advantage.
NEO closed the gap in the top of the sixth, using two hits and a Cowgirl error to score two runs.
The second half of the frame was a duplicate of the first as Oklahoma State scattered a pair of hits and the Lady Norse added an error to allow the Cowgirls to push two runs across home plate for the final margin.
Bay threw five shutout innings, fanning nine batters and surrendering just one hit. Cami Carter came on in relief to strike out two while giving up a pair of runs.
The second game didn't require much offense for Oklahoma State to get the win.
In the bottom of the first, Stephanie Nicholson and Ryan Realmuto drew walks to set up the play. Crystal Lee then doubled to bring both home and the Cowgirls clung on to the 2-0 lead for the remainder of the game.
Sarah Seagraves turned in an impressive performance from the mound, striking out 12 batters and giving up two hits en route to the shutout.
Oklahoma State returns to action next Wednesday, hosting Panhandle State at 3 p.m.
