Cowboy Cross Country Inks Top Recruit
November 14, 2003 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
Oklahoma State's cross country team signed one of the nation's most sought after distance running recruits during the fall signing period, it was announced today by the Cowboy coaching staff.
Ryan Vail, a senior at Centennial High School in Gresham, Oregon, is widely considered to be one of the top-10 high school seniors nationally.
Vail's credentials are impressive. He placed second in the Oregon state cross country meet a few weeks ago. As a junior, he finished third in the 3,200m run at the prestigious Golden West Invitational. He is the third-best high school returner in the 1,500m, with a personal best time of 3:54, and the fifth-best returner in the 3,000m, with a personal best of 8:30.
Vail said he chose Oklahoma State because he felt comfortable with the team and the coaching staff, and was impressed with the tradition of the cross country program.
