Bedlam Soccer Ends In 0-0 Tie
October 28, 2003 | Cowgirl Soccer
It was the third overtime battle for the Cowgirls this year and the ninth for the Sooners. All three of OSU's contests have resulted in a draw. Oklahoma is 3-1-4 in overtime contests.
The Cowgirls and Sooners have both clenched a berth in the Big 12 Tournament, but will not learn their seed until conference play concludes on Friday.
Oklahoma State outshot Oklahoma 25-14 and had its chances to score but was unable to finish the deal.
The Cowgirls had two prime opportunities in the first half. Jolene Schweitzer forced OU goalkeeper Catherine Wade to make two saves in the final eight minutes, the first a diving effort after Schweitzer got loose on a breakaway.
Less than three minutes into the second period OSU missed yet another opportunity. Adriane Radtke started the series with a shot off the crossbar followed by a putback from Katie Lacey that fell short and resulted in a save for Wade.
The Cowgirls outshot the Sooners 7-3 in the overtime periods. Each team had a pair of shots blocked and the Cowgirls had a second shot ricochet off the crossbar.
Kathrin Lehmann had four saves for the Cowgirls while Wade had six for Oklahoma.
Oklahoma State (11-3-3, 3-3-3) returns to action on Friday, traveling to Kansas for its final conference game of the season.
