STILLWATER, Okla. -
Oklahoma State's soccer team improved to 4-0 Sunday, defeating Stephen F. Austin, 4-0, before 442 fans at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex.
The Cowgirls are off to their best start since 1996, the first year of Cowgirl soccer, when OSU also began the season at 4-0 before tying Baylor, 2-2.
In a repeat performance from Friday night, Cassie Lewis and Nikki Wojtowicz combined for the first Cowgirl goal five minutes into the contest. Wojtowicz found Lewis on the corner kick to give the freshman her second goal in as many games.
The Cowgirls did not waste much time and quickly extended their lead, scoring again at the 10:28 mark. Jere Boykin took a pass from Carla Dolomont and outran the defender for her second goal of the season.
OSU's offense was quiet for the remainder of the first period, but Jolene Schweitzer came out of the locker room with a vengeance, scoring two goals in the first seven minutes of the second stanza.
Schweitzer struck first 16 seconds into the period on an assist from Krista Dedmon.
The sophomore found the back of the net once again at the 51:35 mark on a double assist from Krista Dedmon and Courtney Robb.
The two goals in today's game mark the second time that Schweitzer has had a multi-goal game. She also had a pair of goals in the Missouri contest last year.
The game also marked the first time Dedmon has had two assists in one game.
Jackie Hinton made her debut in goal for the Cowgirls, splitting time with starter Kat Doud and posting the second consecutive shutout for Oklahoma State.
Oklahoma State returns to action on Thursday at 7 p.m., hosting Western Kentucky at the OSU Soccer Complex.
