Cowgirl Softball Opens Fall Season On Tuesday

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's softball team will open the fall portion of its 2002-03 schedule this Tuesday as the Cowgirls host Carl Albert State College beginning at 3 p.m.
The Cowgirls posted a 29-23 record last year during Margaret Rebenar's first season as head coach. Oklahoma State lost four starters from last year's squad, but returns All-Big 12 members Lauren Bay, Jade Lindly and Ryan Realmuto.
Bay finished the season with a 19-14 record on the mound and a 1.27 earned run average. She had a record-setting 314 strikeouts to move into first place in the record books. Cami Carter also returns after posting a 10-9 record in her first season at Oklahoma State.
Realmuto led the Cowgirls at the plate, batting .287 and hitting 11 home runs. Lindly was closed behind, hitting .270 with a team-high 12 home runs.
Rebenar enters her second season as head coach of the Cowgirls after serving as an assistant for 22 years. She is assisted by associate head coach Kim Ward and assistant coach Eric Whitley.
The Cowgirls continue fall scrimmage action on Thursday, hosting Seminole Junior College at 3 p.m. On Saturday, OSU will host the Fall Classic Tournament. It will be an all-day event with Oklahoma State and Connors Junior College kicking things off at 9 a.m. Also participating are Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and Northern Oklahoma College.
