STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's softball squad closed out the home portion of its fall schedule on Thursday, defeating Dodge City Community College, 23-4.
The Cowgirl bull pen continued its stingy play, surrendering just four runs on five hits, as Dodge City was unable to muster a hit through the first five innings of play.
Lauren Bay picked up the win, fanning five batters and walking four in the first three innings. Brooke Siebel took the mound next, recording two strikeouts and giving up one hit in three innings of work.
Cami Carter was the third Cowgirl to take the circle against Dodge City. She struck out two batters, but also gave up all four runs; three in the eighth and one in the ninth.
Sarah Seagraves closed out the contest for Oklahoma State, recording five strikeouts in two innings of work, including fanning all three batters in the final inning.
Stephanie Nicholson jump started the OSU offense early, leading off with a double and scoring on a sacrifice fly by Bay. Megan Carey rounded out the scoring in the first, sending a solo shot over the left field fence for a 2-0 lead.
From that point on the Cowgirl offense never looked back, using a string of four hits and two errors to send four Cowgirls home in the second.
After a successful stint from the mound, Siebel also made her presence felt at the plate in the fifth and sixth innings with back-to-back three-run dingers just inside foul territory down the left field line.
The Cowgirls scored at least one run in all but two innings, the fourth and eighth.
Oklahoma State wraps up the fall season at the Kansas City Tournament, kicking off the weekend at 11 a.m. on Saturday against Truman State.
