Cowboys Compete at Missouri Southern Stampede

JOPLIN, Mo. - Oklahoma State's men's cross country team ran to an 11th place finish on Saturday at the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin, Mo.
The Pokes were paced by Trey Vernon's time of 25:24.90, good for a 13th place finish. After taking the 2001 season off, the senior made a strong return in a field of competitive runners. The Cowboys had two more runners crack the top 50, Matt Thomson finished 32nd and J.R. Lake took 47th place. Redshirt freshmen Evan Blackburn and Sean McCabe competed in their first collegiate meets.
The Cowboys will be off until October 5, when they will host the 65th annual Cowboy Jamboree.
