STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's softball team picked up three wins on Sunday in the Cowgirl Classic, defeating Connors State, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and Northern Oklahoma.
In the first game of the day, OSU shut out Connors, 6-0, scoring at least one run in the final four innings of play.
Stephanie Hodges put the Cowgirls on the board and secured the win with a solo home run in the top of the fourth. The sixth inning was the biggest inning offensively for the Cowgirls, with three runners rounding the bases.
Crystal Lee scored on a base hit by Lauren Bay and Jade Lindly had her first long ball of the fall season to bring in Calli Behmer. Oklahoma State also added a single run in both the fifth and seventh innings.
Sarah Seagraves picked the win, striking out three batters and throwing a no-hitter until surrendering one hit in the bottom of the sixth.
In its second contest, OSU turned up the intensity level and rolled past NEO, 11-0. The Cowgirls jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning, paced by a Ryan Realmuto triple.
Lacy Darity led off the inning with a base hit and stole second to get in scoring position. The NEO defense proceeded to assist the Cowgirls' cause, loading the bases with a walk and hit-by-pitch call.
Ashleigh Tweed brought Darity in with a base hit and Realmuto followed, lacing a shot to right field to send Afton Burris, Stephanie Nicholson and Tweed home.
Brooke Siebel and Burris came up big in the fourth, with Siebel leading off the inning with a solo home run and Burris sending a two-run dinger over the fence.
Siebel also made her presence felt on the mound, striking out six and allowing two hits in her third outing as a Cowgirl.
After breezing past its first two opponents, Oklahoma State was taken to the wire in the nightcap, edging NOC, 2-1.
It looked like a repeat of the first two games in the top of the first, with OSU scoring two to open the game. Stephanie Nicholson walked to lead off the inning and advanced to third when the NOC shortstop overthrew Erika Ennis at first.
With two outs in the inning, Megan Carey hit a single to the gap to score both Nicholson and Ennis and give the Cowgirls what would ultimately be their only offense of the game.
NOC pulled within one in the third on a walk, sacrifice hit, and Cowgirl error, but the defense held off the attack to preserve the win.
Cami Carter struck out eight batters and gave up two hits en route to earning her first win of the fall
Oklahoma State (6-0) returns to action on Tuesday at 3 p.m., hosting Eastern Oklahoma State at Cowgirl Stadium.
