Two Cowgirls Earn Academic All-District Honors

STILLWATER, Okla. - Two Cowgirl softball players, junior Lauren Bay and senior Jenny Kipp, were named to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-District VI Women's Softball Team.

Last week, Bay earned first-team All-Big 12 honors as a pitcher and first-team Academic All-Big 12 honors. She was also honored as a Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for March 18. The Trail, B.C., Canada native was 19-14 this year with a 1.27 earned run average.

Kipp also garnered first-team Academic All-Big 12 honors for the fourth consecutive year. She was the only Cowgirl to earn Big 12 Player of the Week honors, snagging the award for the week of March 4. The native of Gilbert, Ariz., finished with a .263 batting average this year and led the Cowgirls with 28 runs scored.

After being named to the All-District squad, Bay and Kipp are now eligible for All-American honors.
