COWGIRLS TRAVEL TO TEXAS TECH
Oklahoma State (23-12 overall, 3-4 in Big 12) travels to Lubbock, Texas to take on the Red Raiders of Texas Tech (11-27 overall, 0-6 in Big 12). The two teams will play a two game series over the weekend, meeting on Saturday, April 6, at 2 p.m. and again on Sunday, April 7, at noon. Oklahoma State split its mid-week home games, falling to Oklahoma, 6-5, in round one of bedlam on Wednesday and edging past Wichita State, 3-2, on Thursday. Texas Tech split its doubleheader with Texas A&M-Corpus Christie on Wednesday, falling 8-2 in game one and shutting out the Islanders, 2-0, in the second game. The win ended a 13-game losing streak for the Red Raiders.
COMING UP
Oklahoma State takes a quick break from conference play next Wednesday, traveling to Fayetteville, Ark., to face Arkansas and Tulsa. The Cowgirls resume conference play next weekend when they host Texas A&M on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14.
SERIES WITH TEXAS TECH
Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Texas Tech, 15-5, including a 5-2 record in Lubbock. OSU won the first 11 games of the series, but Texas Tech has won five of the last nine. Tech and OSU split last season in Stillwater, with the Red Raiders shutting out the Cowgirls, 1-0, in game one before the Cowgirls came back for the win, 3-2, in the second game. The teams also split in the Big 12 Tournament last year, and the outcome was a repeat of the regular season match-up, with Tech winning the first game and OSU the second.
SCOUTING REPORT ON TEXAS TECH
Texas Tech is 11-27 overall and 0-6 in the Big 12 Conference, falling to Baylor, Iowa State and Oklahoma in league play. The Red Raiders are led by junior Esmerelda Perez, who is batting .300 with three doubles, one triple and eight runs batted in. Junior Kristi Robles is batting .284, with two home runs and a team-high nine doubles. Senior Rebecca Eimen leads the team in home runs with four and also has four doubles. On the mound, Tech is led by freshman Amie Stines who has a 2-11 record and a 4.34 earned run average. She has five complete games in her first year as a Red Raider. Also contributing on the mound are junior Maggie Ayers and freshmen Jenny Vaught and Kristina Blair with a combined record of 9-16. Ayers has thrown both of the Red Raider shutouts this year.
COWGIRL SOFTBALL ON THE AIR
All of Oklahoma State's remaining home conference games, as well as the OU game in Norman and all postseason contests will be broadcast live on Stillwater Radio. Bill VanNess will provide the play-by-play for the fourth-consecutive season. Any game starting prior to 7 p.m. will air on KSPI 780 AM. Any game starting at 7 p.m. or later will be broadcast on Y105.5 FM.
