Women's Netters Defeat Baylor

Oklahoma State's 46th-ranked women's tennis team defeated 40th-ranked Baylor, 4-2, in the second round of the Big 12 Tournament on Friday in College Station, Texas.
The Cowgirls fell behind 1-0 after dropping two of three doubles matches.
Junior Kate Vasylyeva and senior Dominika Olszewska defeated Barbora Blahutiakova and Frida Borjesson, 8-4, at No. 3 singles.
The No. 12 ranked duo of junior Linda Faltynkova and sophomore Katya Kolodynska came up short at No. 1 doubles. The duo fell to Katja Kovac and Paola Stephen, 9-8(7-3).
The Cowgirls rallied back to win four of five completed singles matches.
Faltynkova began the comeback by beating Patricia Graf, 6-1,6-1, at No. 2 singles. Freshman Ines Furtmayr defeated Blahutiakova at No. 5 singles, 6-0,6-4.
Vasylyeva defeated Borjesson in straight sets at No. 3 singles, 6-3,6-4.
Olszewska clinched the victory for the Cowgirls at No. 1 singles by beating Kovac, the top ranked player in the Big 12. After dropping the first set, Olszewska battled back to win, 4-6,6-2,6-2.
"I am very proud of our girls and all of the coaches," said head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski. "The team has played really well the past two days in the hot and humid weather."
The Cowgirls will face No. 10 ranked Texas on Saturday at noon in the semifinals.
