COWGIRLS HOST THE HUSKERS
Oklahoma State (20-9 overall, 1-1 in Big 12) will face off with the Nebraska Cornhuskers (26-5 overall, 0-0 in Big 12) to open home portion of its Big 12 schedule. The two teams will square off on Saturday, March 23, at 2 p.m. and again at noon on Sunday, March 25 at Cowgirl Stadium. Oklahoma State opened conference play with a trip to Lawrence, Kan., last weekend and split with the Jayhawks. The Cowgirls fell, 4-0, in the first game of the doubleheader, before bouncing back in game two, hitting four solo home runs and taking the victory, 4-1. Nebraska was set to open Big 12 play at Oklahoma this past Thursday, but the games were cancelled due to cold weather.
LAST TIME OUT
Cami Carter took the loss against Kansas, 4-1, in the first game of the doubleheader as the Cowgirls were held hitless for the first time this season by Kansas' Kara Pierce. Lauren Bay picked up the win in game two, allowing two hits while fanning 14 batters for the third time this year. The Cowgirls got to work at the plate in game two, going yard four times. Jade Lindly had two long balls in the game, bringing her season total to eight, a team-high. Megan Carey and Lauren Bay each had one home run to bring their season totals to four and two, respectively. OSU has now hit 33 home runs this season, breaking the previous record of 30 set in 2000. . COMING UP
Oklahoma State will travel to Columbia, Mo., for a two-game set with the Tigers. The teams will square off on Friday, March 29 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, March 30 at 1 p.m.
SERIES WITH NEBRASKA
OSU leads the all-time series with Nebraska, 40-29, and hold a 12-1 edge in Stillwater. Since Big 12 play began in 1996, OSU leads the series, 10-8.
WHO'S HOT
Lauren Bay - The lefthanded hurler has not allowed an earned run in her last seven appearances on the mound. She has thrown 14 complete games this season with five shutouts. She also has 160 strikeouts in 109.1 innings, an average of 10.3 Ks per game.
Jenny Kipp - The senior third baseman is batting .400 in her last nine games, with 14 hits in 35 at-bats. She has two doubles and three home runs, accounting for a .714 slugging percentage. She also has nine runs scored and five runs batted in.
Jade Lindly - The sophomore outfielder is batting .600 in her last four games, going 3-for-5 at the plate. Two of those hits were home runs, leading to a 1.800 slugging percentage. She also scored two runs and had three runs batted in.
Ryan Realmuto - The junior catcher is batting .341 overall, with 29 hits in 85 at-bats. She has seven doubles, two triples and seven home runs, leading to a .718 slugging percentage. She also leads the team in RBIs with 24.
Megan Carey - The freshman outfielder and designated player is batting .385 over the last six games, with five hits in 13 at-bats. She has three runs scored and two runs batted in. She hit her fourth home run of the season against Kansas.
COWGIRL SOFTBALL ON THE AIR
Beginning with the Nebraska game, all of Oklahoma State's home conference games, as well as the OU game in Norman and all postseason contests will be broadcast live on Stillwater Radio. Bill VanNess will provide the play-by-play for the fourth-consecutive season. The Nebraska game will air on KSPI 780 AM, as will any game starting prior to 7 p.m. Any game starting at 7 p.m. or later will be broadcast on Y105.5 FM.
