OSU Sweeps Creighton In Doubleheader Action

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's softball team snapped a two-game losing streak here Tuesday against Creighton. The Cowgirls defeated the Bluejays, 4-2, and 5-2, in doubleheader action.
In game one, Teresa Ritchie reached on a walk and stole second. Calli Behmer followed with her fourth home run of the year to give the Cowgirls a 2-0 advantage at the end of two.
Creighton's Stacey Rybar answered with a solo long ball in the third and pulled the Bluejays within one.
Creighton evened the score with a run in the top of the fourth. DeAnn Kaster led off with a single and Katie Ayers came in as a pinch runner. Ayers advanced to second on a bunt by Kari Shank and scored on a Sami Herbster base hit.
The Cowgirls scored two runs and took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth. Summer Younk led off with a walk and advanced to second on a single by Jenny Kipp. Casey O'Neill had a sacrifice bunt to move the runners and Stephanie Hodges followed with the RBI hit to score Younk and Kipp.
Cami Carter (7-3) went the distance on the mound for the Cowgirls, striking out eight and allowing four hits.
In the second game, OSU got off to a good start when Kipp led off the first inning with a home run, her third in the last week.
In the bottom of the third, Hodges reached on an error and Realmuto had a two-run dinger to give the Cowgirls a 3-0 edge over the Bluejays.
OSU added another run in the bottom of the fourth on a bases-loaded walk. To start the play, Hodges reached on an error and advanced to second on a base hit by Realmuto. Amber Annis came into the game to run for Hodges and she advanced to third on a Lauren Bay single. Megan Carey reached on a walk and Annis crossed the plate to put the Cowgirls up by four.
Creighton was able to pull within two in the top of the fifth. Cara Van Winkle led off with a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Rybar had an RBI triple to send Van Winkle home and Rybar scored on an overthrown ball by the Cowgirls.
OSU's fifth and final run came in the bottom of the sixth on a Hodges solo home run.
Bay (10-5) led the Cowgirls on the mound in game two, allowing three hits and walking two. She also recorded 14 strikeouts to tie a season high set against Louisiana-Monroe on Feb.9.
With the wins, the Cowgirls improve to 17-8 overall and Creighton falls to 7-11. Oklahoma State returns to action Thursday, March 14, when it hosts Oklahoma City at 6 p.m.
