Cowgirls Win Two In Doubleheader Action

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's softball team swept Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in a doubleheader scrimmage today at Cowgirl Stadium.
The Cowgirls won the first game of the day 7-0 in five innings. Oklahoma State scored one in the bottom of the second inning to put the first run on the board. The Cowgirls exploded in the third inning, recording five runs, led by junior Stephanie Hodges and sophomore Jade Lindly, who scored on an error. The Cowgirls added one run in the bottom of fourth for the final score. Junior Cami Carter, a transfer from BYU-Hawaii, had nine strikeouts, one walk and three hits in her first outing as a Cowgirl.
In the nightcap, the Cowgirls earned their second win of the exhibition season with a 5-0 decision over the Lady Norse. Hodges and senior Casey O'Neill each had a stolen base in the third. Four plays later, the Cowgirls scored three runs on an error by NEO's shortstop, Amanda Bullard. Junior Lauren Bay pitched a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk.
Oklahoma State returns to action this weekend, when they travel to Arlington, Texas, to compete in the UTA Classic Feb. 8-10. The Cowgirls return to Cowgirl Stadium for a scrimmage against Connors State College on Tuesday, Feb. 12.
